Untitled, (Yoga Room), 2014

Sketch for Untitled, (Yoga Room), proposal for H.S.E Percent for Art Commission, Cork, 2014. Dimensions: 8m x 8m.

The proposal is for a bespoke Marmoleum lino floor prepared with a unique aquajet water cut design, developed by the artist. This permanent artwork, proposed for an H.S.E Mental Health Unit patient dayroom, personalises the space with a composition and colour scheme evocative of balance, harmony and well-being. Creating an environment for the facilitation of a series of mindfulness meditation workshops, the floor surface provides a suitable platform, whilst the design will aid and support these practices through its basis in principles of unity and holism. An arrangement of geometric forms with a focus on symmetry, spheres and geodesic ordering, this has been a recurring motif in Angela’s work that exemplifies an ideology of non-hierarchical community building advocated by the visionary architect Buckminster Fuller.
